Christian Based Shows Pt. 1 (Greenleaf)

People make shows just about anything. Shows about lying lawyers, devious maids, doctors with love problems, the FBI and many more. Well there is also a show about the church. In these two shows, I wouldn't say all churches function like the way they do but their is some like the bible say "wickedness in high places" and "false prophets". The two shows are OWN's "Greenleaf" and Bounce TV's "Saints and Sinners".

Greenleaf:

Greenleaf is about a woman named Grace "GiGi" Greenleaf who returns home to Memphis after years of being away. Grace is the prodigal daughter. She comes home after learning that her sister Faith had committed suicide. Grace is a called preacher by the Lord but just like Jonah, she keeps trying to run. She is the daughter of Bishop James Greenleaf and Lady Mae Greenleaf. Grace tries to fix all the problems and secrets that are inter webbed in her family, while figuring out God's plan for her.

The Main Stars of Greenleaf

Merle Dandridge aka Grace "GiGi" Greenleaf. Grace is the protagonist. She is the prodigal daughter. She has a daughter named Sophia. She is currently dating Darius Nash. She had a close relationship with her sister Faith and her Aunt Mavis. She knew about her Uncle Mac's predatory ways. She and her sister Faith were rapped by her Uncle Mac. [Spoiler] She kills Mac in Season 2.

Keith David aka Bishop James Greenleaf. He is the father of Jacob, Grace, Faith, and Charity. Bishop has a special love for his daughter Grace. He doesn't have the best relationship with his son Jacob. Bishop has some skeletons in the closet, he once had an affair with Mavis, Mae's sister. He is angry finding about what Mac did to his daughter Faith and to other girls in the town.

Lynn Whitfield aka Lady Mae Greenleaf. Lady Mae is a tough and firm First Lady. She is the wife of the Bishop. Just like the bishop, she has skeletons that she tries to keep buried. Lady Mae is ver manipulative and conning. She always have a plan. She doesn't have the best relationship with Grace, she favors Jacob more.

Lamman Rucker aka Jacob Greenleaf. Jacob is the eldest out of the Greenleaf children. He is the son who tries to do his best. He always feels second to his little sister Grace. Jacob doesn't want to hide in his father shadows. Jacob is an ordained Pastor, at the Bishop's revival church Triumph. Jacob is married to Kerissa. They have two children Zora and Winkie. Just like the Bishop, Jacob has problems with committing Adultery.

Deborah Joy Winans aka Charity Greenleaf. Charity is the youngest child of the Greenleaf children. Charity always feels overlooked and unimportant. Charity is the musically talented ones. She can sing and play the piano. She was married to Kevin but they divorced after he started having problems with his sexuality. They have a son together, they did have a daughter who sadly died. Charity just wants to be loved.

Kim Hawthorne aka Kerissa Greenleaf. Kerissa is the fierce and no-nonsense wife of Jacob Greenleaf. She is like a miniature Lady Mae. Guess it's true, men do marry women like their mother. Kerissa is very strong-minded. She was raised very fortunate. She doesn't like Lady Skanks. From what I've seen, she isn't to fund of Grace.

Tye White aka Kevin Satterlee. Kevin is the former husband of Charity Greenleaf. Kevin spent the first two season battling his sexuality. He is sweet and caring. Kevin has a son with Charity. He is the director of the Outreach Committee.

Desiree Ross aka Sophia Greenleaf. She is the young and beautiful daughter of Grace Greenleaf and her ex-husband Ray Fisher. Sophia is a high school senior. She is very close to her cousin Zora. Unlike her cousin, Sophia is more level headed. Sophia loves church and learning God's word. In season 2 starts dating church boy Roberto from Triumph. She tries to help and protect Zora.

Lovie Simone aka Zora Greenleaf. Zora is the wild and rebellious daughter of Jacob and Kerissa Greenleaf. Zora does the opposite of what her parents want. Zora is the total opposite of Sophia. Zora starts dating a christian singer named Isaiah (who Sophia initially liked). Isaiah turns out to be abusive to Zora.

GregAlan Williams aka the Late Mac McCready. Mac was the older brother of Mavis and Lady Mae. Mac was a pedophile who molested young girls, even his own nieces Grace and Faith. [spoiler] He is killed in Season 2 by Grace.

Oprah Winfrey aka Mavis McCready. Mavis is the sister of Mac and Lady Mae. Mavis owned a nightclub. She was aware of her brother's predatory ways. She has a grudge against Lady Mae. She is very close to her niece Grace. She had an affair with the Bishop.

Jason Dirden aka Pastor Basie Skansk. Basie was the former pastor of Triumph until he gave it over to Jacob. He has it out for the Greenleaf's especially the Bishop, who he blames for killing his father. Basie seems to have a better relationship with Jacob and Grace but he is still planning against the Greenleaf's.
